The Hill


Challenge description
​This winter challenge takes you 55 laps (plus a bit extra) up and down The Wrekin Hill in Shropshire at a height of 1,335ft. With a total 47,000 feet of assent, you must complete 160 miles within 48 hours.
​
The event will start on Friday evening 9pm at Halfway House, Wrekin, (half way up the hill). This will also serve as an indoor checkpoint for bag drop and basic supplies where you can help yourself to tea, coffee, pot noodles, soup, snacks etc.

Runners must have extreme ultra-running experience with a 100 mile finish being the minimum pre-requisite. Please only apply and make payment if you meet the required pre-requisite (entries will be rejected and refunded if you do not meet the requirements and any entry can be rejected at the RD's discretion).

Rules

No sticks.

No headphones.

No outside assistance/crews

No pacers.

No supporters/friends/family hanging around or speaking to the runners on the hill itself. No one but runners and the race organisers will be allowed at the CP, or you will be disqualified.

No stopping for more than 30 mins at a time.

You can bring personal food. There are no cooking facilities, other than self service hot water (kettle). Bring a mug.

Runners must bring ALL weather kit (it will be cold and exposed), night gear AND a sleeping bag is compulsory. Front and rear lighting compulsory. One medium bag per runner.

You must have your DNF strategy (a means to get home). We cannot transport you anywhere.

You must take away EVERYTHING you bring. We do not have waste capacity.

You MUST ring the DNF bell WHEN you DNF.

You cannot leave the route to go to your car for supplies or sleep

You must run from base to summit 56 times. After your 56th summit you will then come down to finish at the CP hut.

You should carry a phone to call 999 in an emergency and to notify the RD.

You must wear your completed race number at all times.
